Summary

30 years after "The Killing Joke" changed comics forever, "The Three Jokers" re-examines the myth of who, or what, is the Joker and what is at the heart of his ongoing battle with Batman? New York Times bestselling writer Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok, the writer/artist team that waged the "Darkseid War" in the pages of Justice League, reunite to tell the ultimate story of Batman and The Joker!

After years of anticipation, the epic story is finally here: find out why there are three Jokers, and what that means for the decades-long battle between the Dark Knight and the Clown Prince of Crime。 In this powerful, emotional story Batman, Batgirl and Red Hood - all past victims of the Joker - work together to solve a mystery unlike anything they've ever faced before!

The overall story takes an interesting gimmick and explores the trauma of everyone involved and gives the heroes Bruce, Jason Todd, and Barbra Gordon a sence of closure。 Along with overall technical excellence of the writing, art, pacing, etc。 It is the sort of story so good that I just wish it was a little bit better, if that makes sense。 It earns it's 5star from me, but I feel like it could have almost been one of the iconic Batman stories for an age, but it just wasn't quite that。 It draws in The overall story takes an interesting gimmick and explores the trauma of everyone involved and gives the heroes Bruce, Jason Todd, and Barbra Gordon a sence of closure。 Along with overall technical excellence of the writing, art, pacing, etc。 It is the sort of story so good that I just wish it was a little bit better, if that makes sense。 It earns it's 5star from me, but I feel like it could have almost been one of the iconic Batman stories for an age, but it just wasn't quite that。 It draws in a lot of lore and ties it off nicely。 That gives it a sense of gravitas, but it doesn't really say anything new about them or give any different insights。 。。。more

I hate to have to be the one to say this but when it comes to Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok’s “Three Jokers” — the emperor has no clothes。 The book makes absolutely no mention whatsoever of Johns’ “Darkseid War” arc (where the idea of three Jokers was first introduced) and instead offers up some cockamamie concept involving The Joker(s) creating a “better Joker。” As to what that entails or what it evens means, your guess is as good as mine。 What’s worse is the book’s conclusion is a classic deus e I hate to have to be the one to say this but when it comes to Geoff Johns and Jason Fabok’s “Three Jokers” — the emperor has no clothes。 The book makes absolutely no mention whatsoever of Johns’ “Darkseid War” arc (where the idea of three Jokers was first introduced) and instead offers up some cockamamie concept involving The Joker(s) creating a “better Joker。” As to what that entails or what it evens means, your guess is as good as mine。 What’s worse is the book’s conclusion is a classic deus ex-machina。 I’m sorry but you can’t expect readers to just throw away logic and rationale for no other reason than “because I’m Batman。” “Three Jokers” makes no sense。 It’s a failure to launch and provides 0% ROI as far as the script and story are concerned。 This book is not a sequel to “The Killing Joke”, it’s not a continuation of the concepts explored from “Darkseid War。” What “Three Jokers” is, simply our, is half of an idea: roughly formulated and sloppily executed。 The only reason why this book deserves 3/5 stars is due to the jaw dropping, eye popping, spellbinding artwork of one Jason Fabok。 His pencils are a beautiful homage to the stylings of Brian Bolland and the storytelling layouts and panelling of Alan Moore。 Brad Anderson’s colours also deserve mentioning, as they are the glue that holds everything together。 I love Geoff Johns, I love Jason Fabok。 I really love Brad Anderson。 But I didn’t love “Three Jokers。” Not even close。 。。。more

I heard a lot about this one。 I wanted to read it even more after “three jokers” being mentioned in “Darksied war”。 This was a smaller story about identity。 Who can be what, behind a mask。 Many sides of joker and great inner tension between Batman and my favorite Redhood。 I don’t like when authors go back in the story to change a part of the storyline。 I know they will have to because they can only write so much about the character until they get boring。 A criminal can only breakout of Gotham so I heard a lot about this one。 I wanted to read it even more after “three jokers” being mentioned in “Darksied war”。 This was a smaller story about identity。 Who can be what, behind a mask。 Many sides of joker and great inner tension between Batman and my favorite Redhood。 I don’t like when authors go back in the story to change a part of the storyline。 I know they will have to because they can only write so much about the character until they get boring。 A criminal can only breakout of Gotham so many times until it’s exhausted or we start to question how someone breaks out so much, which we have done。 Here the cycle continues and I want that。 Fans will be upset when it stops or the story of the character changes to fit the story trying to be made。 Do I think this one needs to be read, yes。 Was it amazing, not really。 But the drawings were PERFECT。 Redhoods story is touched on and the Batman and Joker cycle was deepened。 。。。more

2。5/5 To me Three Jokers is the definition of a mixed bag。 On one hand, you have the amazing artwork of Jason Fabok and compelling exploration of the various traumas the Batfamily has suffered。 On the other, the book doesn't fully explore its premise (and its the main reason people bought the book, myself included)。 There is a good story in here, I just don't think Geoff Johns needed 3 Jokers in order to tell it。This is a story is about both the mental and physical scars we have。 I love Johns' c 2。5/5 To me Three Jokers is the definition of a mixed bag。 On one hand, you have the amazing artwork of Jason Fabok and compelling exploration of the various traumas the Batfamily has suffered。 On the other, the book doesn't fully explore its premise (and its the main reason people bought the book, myself included)。 There is a good story in here, I just don't think Geoff Johns needed 3 Jokers in order to tell it。This is a story is about both the mental and physical scars we have。 I love Johns' contrasted comparison between Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) and Red Hood (Jason Todd)。 They both suffered hugely traumatic events at the hands of The Joker, and Johns did a good job showing not only how the same person can affect people in different ways, but also highlighted just how difficult it is to recover from something traumatic in isolation。 Batman is wrong about Barbara and Jason。 Barbara wasn't inherently better or stronger than Jason。 She had the love and support from her father, her therapists, and tons of other people during and after her recovery。 Jason had no one。 And the people who should have cared *glares at Batman* didn't lift a finger, inflicting another form of trauma on Jason: abandonment。 And now, on top of the chronic pain Jason suffers from, he has some serious emotional needs that are crippling the few relationships he does have in this book。 I wish this story had a sequel or something to follow up on Jason's recovery, and that we could see him either start to recover or start taking the first steps towards recovery。 All we get in this story is some unrequited simping for Barbara, which is a dangerous and unhealthy place to start a romantic relationship (and a relationship I'm not fond of, even back when they teased the idea all the way back in Batman Eternal)。And now let's talk about the 3 elephants in the room。 The Criminal, The Clown, and The Comedian are not given enough time in this story to all sound or act distinct enough from each other, and their plan to "make a better Joker" is just plain stupid。 I think Johns realized this, because he has one of the Jokers mock the idea as the end, but it doesn't at all redeem the plot。 If I can compliment Johns' take(s) on Joker at all, it's that I like his retcon that Joker was an abusive person before he became The Joker。 I've always been fond of Scott Snyder's Joker from Zero Year, who was already a deranged anarchist loooong before he took that fateful dive into a vat of chemicals。 While I don't think Johns had that version of the character in mind, his addition to Joker's backstory fits really well with that take on the character。If you ask me, Three Jokers was not worth the 5 years of waiting it took to get this book。 It does have some good stuff in it, but it's not the product they pitched all those years ago。 It gets a recommendation from me, but with the caveat that you probably shouldn't buy this at full price。 。。。more

When the Joker seems to be in three places at once, Batman teams up with Batgirl and Red Hood, both of whom have been molded by the Joker。 It's a really good story with excellent artwork。 The psychology of the Jokers and the broken heroes is really interesting and well done。 Definitely worth it for Batman and Joker fans。 When the Joker seems to be in three places at once, Batman teams up with Batgirl and Red Hood, both of whom have been molded by the Joker。 It's a really good story with excellent artwork。 The psychology of the Jokers and the broken heroes is really interesting and well done。 Definitely worth it for Batman and Joker fans。 。。。more

3。5Though it didn’t take much, I think this is the best from the DC Black Label I’ve read so far。It was cool to have comic about the Three Jokers theory that I first learned about in the DC Rebirth special, especially how it tied into the lives of Batman, Batgirl and Red Hood。 Not the greatest Batman story, but still worth checking out。

Basic Plot: 3 different Jokers are running amok in Gotham, and Batman, Batgirl, and Red Hood have to stop them。It's a fascinating premise。 The Joker has had many different personalities over the years。 That is the nature of serial storytelling by dozens of authors over the years。 This book gives an explanation of that while forcing the 3 characters in the Bat family who have been most affected by the Joker to face their traumas and pain。 It was well written, paced well, and the art was top notch Basic Plot: 3 different Jokers are running amok in Gotham, and Batman, Batgirl, and Red Hood have to stop them。It's a fascinating premise。 The Joker has had many different personalities over the years。 That is the nature of serial storytelling by dozens of authors over the years。 This book gives an explanation of that while forcing the 3 characters in the Bat family who have been most affected by the Joker to face their traumas and pain。 It was well written, paced well, and the art was top notch。 。。。more
